history
Right from the start
Ecclesiastical was founded in 1887 by Churchmen, largely to protect churches from the consequences of fire.
Today
Weve grown and changed to become a broad, financial services organisation dedicated to meeting the needs of customers from all walks of life at home and overseas.
Dublin office was opened in 1980 when Ecclesiastical was appointed by the Church of Ireland as their faith insurer including involvement with the national education system. We moved into commercial risks in 1983 and have had direct representation in Northern Ireland since 1986. Our operations in Ireland are now on an all-Ireland basis with the exception of some Northern Ireland servicing and support coming from the UK at least until the end of 2007.
Our customers depend on us to protect their property and finances. They also appreciate the fact that we are one of the UKs top Ten Corporate Donors*, and have donated almost 72 million in charitable grants over the past 15 years.
